Veera Sylvius is a technology entrepreneur and investor. She joined Space Systems Finland as an employee, became CEO in 2010 and led a management buyout in 2011, after which the company was run entrepreneur-led for about ten more years. Space Systems Finland is, in her account, Finland's first space company, founded in the 1980s, and the work was difficult embedded safety-critical software for satellites — as she puts it, a satellite's intelligence is the software, and you cannot go and fix it. When she appeared on Negotiator in 2022 she was raising Voland Partners' 80 million euro technology fund, which takes minority stakes in profitable Finnish technology companies. In the episode she justifies the move to the investor side in terms of impact, rejects the host's assumption that responsibility and returns pull in different directions, and closes by reading a poem from her forthcoming first collection.
