Sami Miettinen joined Viikon viisastelu — Ivan Puopolo’s weekly political panel, known in English here as Weekly Wiseguys — on 15 February 2023, alongside Seida Sohrabi, a National Coalition parliamentary candidate in Helsinki. It is the first episode in this run with a woman on the panel.

Sohrabi is the strongest voice in it and also the most moderate. On immigration she frames the priority as getting people into work and study rather than as restriction; on schools she describes, at first hand, working as a classroom support teacher in a class of ten pupils across three year groups with three adults, one autistic pupil, one who went into a cupboard and stayed there, and a phone rule that earned her a threat of being reported to the police. She corrects the panel’s generalisation about boys being the livelier ones by noting she was exactly that as a child, and she describes having argued at university that a politician she disagrees with must nonetheless be allowed to stand for election — a concrete version of a principle the programme usually states abstractly.

The episode’s methodological high point is a minister’s claim that his messaging account had been hijacked, possibly from Africa, when a political meme went out from it. The panel builds the logical case against — exactly one meme, in Finnish, with a joke about two Finnish politicians, account returned within three hours — and then partly dismantles its own reasoning when Puopolo recalls that his own hijacked account let him post at the same time as the hijacker. They also note they are recording before any assessment has been published.

Sami’s best addition comes at the end, and it turns against his own side: if a Chinese balloon over the United States is a violation of airspace, what is a private satellite network nobody gave permission for, whose owner decides its military use himself.

Chapters

The recording lives on Ivan Puopolo’s own channel and he owns it. This page is a record of the appearance and a pointer to the original, not a copy of it. The chapter marks above are derived from the recording itself; the episode carries no published chapter list of its own.
