## Summary

Author and negotiation coach Arto Heimonen returns with his book Älykäs neuvottelu – viisas vaikuttaminen. The first half reads Trump's Iran negotiations, JD Vance's fruitless 21-hour trip to Pakistan and the Strait of Hormuz crisis through negotiation theory rather than politics, and covers what the Hungarian election result does to EU decision-making by unanimity. The second half is method: status expression, question technique, buy-side negotiation, rapport and trust, and what AI is genuinely good for in preparation rather than at the table.

## Geopolitics read as negotiation

The useful move in the first half is refusing the political frame. Trump's Iran approach
is treated as a tactic with known costs rather than as a personality, Iran's delay is
treated as a clock-based tactic, and the Vance trip is used to show what pre-negotiation
is for: by the time the parties meet, the expensive options are already on the table.

## Method, second half

The transferable part is the question work — three categories of question, questions as
status adjustment, and the framing difference between buying and selling. Heimonen's
position on AI is narrower than the usual claim: it earns its place in preparation and
scenario analysis, not in the room.
