## Summary

Recorded on April Fools' Day 2025, this Negotiation Club opens with an EVA survey in which 40 per cent of Finns see the public broadcaster as leaning left and 5 per cent as leaning right — an eightfold asymmetry. From there it moves to inheritance tax and what the debate leaves out: what comparable countries have done, where the money to pay the tax has to come from, and average adult wealth of 150,000 euros in Finland against 300,000 in Sweden. The second half is Marine Le Pen's loss of eligibility and the structural problem it creates, why cordons sanitaires do not work, Finland's withdrawal from the Ottawa Convention, and Greenland.

## The survey, read carefully

Forty per cent of Finns seeing the public broadcaster as leaning left against five per
cent seeing it lean right is an eightfold asymmetry — in perception. The episode is
clearer about that distinction than most commentary from either direction, which is what
makes the number usable at all.

## Inheritance tax, and the argument that carries

Of the several arguments made, the one that survives scrutiny is about liquidity rather
than rates: an inherited asset has to be paid for in cash the heir may not have, which is
what turns a tax question into a business-succession question. The wealth comparison with
Sweden is used as context rather than as proof.
